How to Measure a Quality Web Page
by: Robert Zink

There are several ways to measure a good web page:

1. Does It Inspire the "Desire?"

Simply put, each web page should lead you somewhere. Ultimately, all web pages must aid in the overall marketing bridge.

2. Does It Rank on the Search Engines?

There's much more to a successful web page than pictures and graphics - there are words. Words are how we move the thoughts of people from where they are currently at to where you want them to be. Most websites attempt to build words around pictures. In truth, good advertising and marketing uses creative words to express ideas, and the pictures express the essence of the words. In addition, the picture encourages the browser to become a reader.

This principle holds true on the web as well asin virtually all print mediums.

In the virtual world of the internet, words play a dual role. Words determine where and how you rank on a search engine. Search engines are essential to web navigation. They aid us in finding what we want when we surf the net. It is sadly true that if you don't rank in the top 10 on several of the most popular search engines, you will badly suffer in obtaining "hits" to your site, thus limiting your potential.

3. Does It Load Quickly?

If a site takes more than 30 seconds to load, it will lose some people who may become impatient. I personally believe this is one of the biggest mistakes the home-do-it-yourself builders make. While it may not seem critical, it is!
